This September in 4th class we have completed two STEM activities.

STEM #1:

This was an extremely fun challenge our teacher set to us.
We broke up into five groups. The materials given were one A3 page, 2scissors and 1 small ball of blue tac (1.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches long), and nothing else. NO INSTRUCTIONS! We were given 20minutes to figure out in our groups how to make the longest paper chain. We really had to put our heads together for this one, and work together as a team. Everyone did such a great job, and the results were SUPER impressive.

STEM #2:
We have been extremely busy these last few weeks on learning about our lines and angles in Maths. We have learned about acute, obtuse and right angles. As well as perpendicular lines, parallel lines, horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.
We decided to put our brains to the test in team teaching and use a variety of different materials in order to make lines and angles.
On station one we used: Styrofoam balls and cocktails sticks, station two: we had Jenga blocks, station three: we had lollipop sticks and blu-tac and finally in station four we had pegs and pencils.
This was a maths lesson that we all really enjoyed and a maths lesson that we really didn't want to end.
Super Work all round! :)
